Democrats Attempt To Shield Hurricane Survivors From Bankruptcy Law.

Democratic members of Congress are proposing that the nation’s new bankruptcy law that goes into effect on October 17th be exempted for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. The law makes it more difficult to declare bankruptcy. The Congressmen wrote, “We are concerned that just as survivors of Hurricane Katrina are beginning to rebuild their lives, the new bankruptcy law will result in a further and unintended financial whammy.”
