FEMA Censors Search For Bodies.

Reuters is reporting that in a move eerily reminiscent of an earlier Pentagon order, FEMA is prohibiting the media from taking pictures of those killed in Katrina aftermath.

The move came Tuesday, as FEMA refused to take reporters and photographers along on boats looking for victims in flooded areas of the city. A FEMA spokeswoman wrote in an e-mail, “The recovery of victims is being treated with dignity and the utmost respect and we have requested that no photographs of the deceased by made by the media.”

But not all bodies or flag draped coffins are being prevented from being showed to the US media. Almost four years after the September 11th attack, Gerald Baptiste’s remains were identified, and laid to rest. There was no calls from any federal agency to prevent the media from seeing his flag draped coffin as HE was laid to rest. One has to ask, is FEMA and the Pentagon doing this for “the dignity of their families” or to protect the Bush administration from negative press coverage?

One thing we call all be sure about. When it comes to censoring the images of the dead left in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, this will be ONE JOB that FEMA will do their best not to completely screw up.

Miami,
If a member of my family was MURDERED than YES, I would want the media shown the bodies. And it isn't necessary to show the person's face either, and in some instances, the bodies will be so rotted that it won't matter.

LOGIC tell you that if Bush allows the bodies/coffins of those killed in 9/11 to be shown to the media (which boosts his image) and doesn't allow those killed by his war or FEMA (which hurts his image) then you know it has nothing to do with respect for the families, but has everything to do with sweeping his murderious carnage under the rug for his own benefit.

The man has yet to attend a single funeral for a single soldier killed in his wars. What goddamn respect for any family members does he have? Sure, he loves them all...just like Jesus, right? Except when they demand answers, then they call them "crazy".

"It's amazing how "peaceful" you peacenicks really are. Were you this angry when Clinton was lobbing cruise missles into Iraq to redirect attentionaway from his impeachment trial? Were you this adamently against war when Clinton was bombing indiscriminately all over Bosnia?"

Yes. Plenty of leftists pointed out this was Republicanism lite and that the attack on Iraq was probably motiviated by the desire to distract. Tom Tomorrow did a classic based on the style of the Cat in the Hat that some joker subsequentially stole the text of without attribution and posted all over the Internet, but I saw it in _This Modern World_ with the artwork. I daresay you've seen the text and think Rush's staff wrote it. Nope.

You are right, miami troll, to say that the _degree_ of protest has varied. This is because the _degree_ of the offense has also varied. Clinton's actions were questionable and by God he was questioned, not just by your Hitler Choir but by the left as well. But there was also some justification for them, and the amount of violence and loss associated was far less. Bush's attack on Iraq had less than zero justification; the reasons given to motivate Americans to accept it turned out to be actual falsehoods and we are now mired in a devastating guerilla war there, whereas Clinton's actions in Bosnia for instance (which was also roundly protested on the left as being mainly a prop for corporate interests and only indifferently in the service of human rights) did lead to a quick and relatively bloodless resolution. This is the difference between smart imperialism and stupid imperialism.

"Somehow I can't remember the left being so vocal then..."

Somehow I think you weren't listening. I will freely say, I don't listen to the right more than I can help it. But of course I have heard plenty out of the mouths of you idiots to damn you with. I don't speculate on what you might _not_ have said! But rightists do this all the time--"Where were you when this or that..." If you listened to the answers you might be amazed.

Miami,
At the time of Kosovo and the bombing of Iraq by Clinton, not to mention his bombing of Sudan (he hit an aspirin factory, saying the place stored WMDs, New Gingrich jumped up and down in praise) I was screaming my head off about his immoral and violent foreign policy. It got to the point when I got tired of saying that he should be impeached not for the stain on a dress but for the blood on his hands.

you can take a look here at the left wing cartoon "This Modern World", to see what the publishers of Salon was printing. Take a look at this cartoon.

Of course this wasn't the only time This Modern World criticzed the Clinton Administration.

Most of the left was never that happy with Clinton. He was nothing more than Republican-lite. We criticized him for not raising the minimum wage more, we criticized him for attempting to pass a universal health care bill that wouldn't give the US a single-payer health care system, but would force everyone to get private insurance, we criticized him for passing NAFTA, we criticized him for the 1996 Telecommunications Act (that brought you Fox News), we criticized him for cutting welfare to the poor, but giving welfare to the rich...the list goes on and on and on. But most of all we were critical of him killing innocent people in Iraq...just as we criticize Bush for doing the same thing today.

You see, miami...us lefties have PRINCIPALS. you immoral right wingers just have a monkey named Bush.
