The Republican chair of the House Ways and Means Committee Bill Thomas questioned on Meet the Press Bush’s view that social security was in crisis. Republican Senator Olympia Snow of Maine said she opposes the high cost of $1-2 trillion to switch to private accounts. Meanwhile the senior lobby group the AARP has come out in full opposition of the privation plan.
