Senate Republicans Show Their Black Hearts.

Despite that just last August the Census Bureau reported that for the fourth year in a row the poverty rate has increased, with another 1.1 million Americans falling into poverty in 2004, and then the nation being hit with Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, leaving many Americans with nothing along the Gulf Coast, Republicans in the Senate are attempting to slash food assistance programs by nearly $600 million. The cut would eliminate roughly 300,000 Americans from being able to receive food assistance.

In 2003, the US Census Bureau found that the overwhelming majority of the newly poor were children, with 12.9 American children living in poverty.

I thought this would be an appropriate post on which to wish you a happy Indigenous Peoples' Day, Alva.

And may we live to see many more.

And thank you for some fine, and well varied, reading.
