Halliburton Employs Slave Labor In Iraq.
The watchdog organization CorpWatch is reporting that tens of thousands of low-wage laborers from Asia are coming to Iraq to work for military contractors such as Halliburton. The salaries of these low-wage workers from India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka range as low as $200 for a month’s wages.
CorpWatch is saying that many of these workers are sleeping in crowded trailers and are fed “slop”. Many have said that the workers are forced to work 7 days a week for 10 hours or more a day, with little if any overtime pay and a lack of medical care. Additionally, the Asian laborers are forced to work in a war zone with protective gear such as helmets or bulletproof vests.
