Bush’s Approval Ratings Continue To Die…And That’s Not All.
MSNBC is reporting that according to a poll conducted by NBC and the Wall Street Journal, President Bush’s approval ratings have slipped to just 39%. But that’s not all.
The NBC-WSJ poll found that only a measly 28% of Americans believe the country is headed in the right direction, in another new low.
The poll has shown that Bush’s approval ratings have continued to decline since NBC/WSJ conducted their last poll in September, in a time in which Bush has made several visits to the Gulf Coast, and made a prime-time speech from New Orleans, promising to rebuild, events that should have helped the unpopular President.
The poll also found that only 24% believe former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay’s (R-TX) comments that the charges against him are politically motivated, while 65% believe that potential illegal activity occurred. Similarly, only 28% say the charges against the Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist (R-TN) have little merit, while 57% say potential illegal activity occurred.
But the most surprising numbers to come out of the poll, is that in the largest margin between the parties in 11 years, only 39% of those polled said they want a Republican-controlled Congress, while 48% say they want a Democratic-controlled Congress.
