Tom DeLay Indicted.

The House Majority Leader, Tom DeLay (R-TX) has been indicted on conspiracy charges by a Texas Grand Jury. DeLay has been indicted with two others, on charging stemming from an alleged deal to accept corporate money through DeLay’s Texans for a Republican Majority PAC, and giving that cash to Texas Republicans running for office. Texas law prohibits corporate contributions to individuals running for office.

The charge has forced DeLay to step down from his post, and the House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) is expected to become the new House Majority Leader. Rep. David Dreier (R-CA) was rumored to become the next Majority Leader, but Dreier may have been shelved for the position because of speculation that Dreier is a homosexual.
