The Huffington Post is reporting that Louisiana State Senator Republican Craig Romero visited Washington on the premise to raise money for Katrina disaster relief.

But Romero also made the trip to get gain support for his Congressional run in the 3rd district of Louisiana, a seat currently held by Democrat Charlie Melancon. However, The Huffington Post has acquired a papers that Romero has been handing out to special interest groups. In it, Romero is states that he doesn’t want Katrina’s victims don’t move back home because it could make the district go Republican.

In Romero’s campaign papers, he included a pie chart of the district’s make up without the residents displaced by Katrina. Without those residents, Romero’s campaign literature says that the district would solidly go Republican.
