Bush Vows To Stay The Course…Again.
Just two days before a massive anti-war protest in the nation’s capital, President Bush said Thursday in an address at the Pentagon that the he would not withdraw US forces from Iraq.
Bush said that withdrawing US forces would not happen “on my watch”, saying that it would give terrorists the ability to “claim an historic victory over the United States.”
In speaking of the rapidly growing anti-war movement, Bush said, “Their position is wrong. Withdrawing our troops would make the world more dangerous and make America less safe. To leave Iraq now would be to repeat the costly mistakes of the past that led to the attacks of September the 11th, 2001.”
