Homeland Security Chief Lies On Meet The Press.

Last Sunday, on Meet the Press, Tim Russert asked Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, “People were stunned by a comment the president of the United States made on Wednesday, Mr. Secretary. He said, ‘I don’t think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees.’ How could the president be so wrong, be so misinformed?”

Chertoff’s response was “Well, I think if you look at what actually happened, I remember on Tuesday morning picking up newspapers and I saw headlines, ‘New Orleans Dodged The Bullet.’”

Which newspapers could he have been talking about?

Maybe he was wrong about the headlines but are you going to tell me that no one said that in any media outlet that "New Orleans Dodged the Bullet"?

And ieven so what does that prove, that he doesn't have a photographic memory? GEez with everything that he has to do you expect him to memorize the exact headlines of the papers that morning???

I think if you are going to tear him a new one that you could pick a better example.

Miami,
No, I do not expect Chertoff, or ANYONE in the administration to memorize newspaper headlines. But if that wasn't the case, then WHY DID HE MAKE THE CLAIM?

Again, he may have been wrong about the exact wording of headlines but you can't deny that it was widely reported by many news agencies about how New Orleans dodged a bullet because it wasn't a direct hit.
And again what exactly does this prove???
