House Speaker Taking Bribes?

Turkish-Americans may have bribed a group of US lawmakers including Republican Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert. The allegation comes from a new story in Vanity Fair, as sources told the magazine that former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds testified that she heard individuals bragging that they had covert relationships with House Speaker Dennis Hastert, and that Turkish interests had given Hastert tens of thousands of dollars in small donations. The donations were reportedly given to Hastert when the House of Representatives was considering passing a resolution condemning the Turkish genocide of Armenians. Hastert backed the resolution initially, but then withdrew it minutes before it was scheduled to come to a House vote. Hastert’s office has denied receiving any such payments.
