EPA Official Says New Orleans Could Be Unsafe For A Decade.

Hugh Kaufman, a veteran official at the EPA, told the Independent of London that the toxic New Orleans flood waters will make the city unsafe for human habitation for a decade. Kaufman said that clean-up needed would be “the most massive public works exercise ever done in this country.” Kaufman, a senior policy analyst in the EPA’s Office of Sold Wastes and Emergency Response, said, “it will take ten years just to get everything up and running and safe.”
